Implied comprehensive consent regarding personal information


In carrying out its operations, the Health Insurance Society provides information concerning all aspects of its operations, such as information on applications, benefits, usage charges, and other payments, to insured persons via the persons in charge among employers and establishments and requests insured persons to make applications via these persons in charge.
The Society also asks the persons in charge among employers and establishments to carry out these operations in ways that will not cause any problems for insured persons when submitting legally required notifications, etc. and in ways that will ensure the smooth processing of the Society’s operations.





At the Health Insurance Society, the following matters are covered under this approach. For this reason, members who cannot consent to the provision of such information to third parties are requested to provide to the Health Insurance Society’s contact point for matters related to handling of personal information. This information is handled in accordance with the Society Agreement and its rules on the management and protection of personal information. If no notification is received, the Society shall assume that the member has consented to such use of information.


1)

Providing benefits for high-cost medical care (subsidies for high medical care costs) via the employer without application by the insured person

2)

Providing additional benefits (additional refund of the amount paid as copayment for medical care costs) via the employer without application by the insured person (The insured person is also provided with a notice of benefit amounts.)

3)

Processing medical care cost information (showing patient names, month of examination or treatment, medical care costs, names of medical institutions, etc.) by household

4)

Analyzing rezept data, preparing individual notices of copayments to encourage use of generic drugs, and sending drug information by mail.


* As for the medical care cost information covered under 3) above, the consent of family members as well as the member is required.
