Upper digestive tract (stomach) examination at the Kenpokaikan examination center and at nearby facilities (Insured persons)

Since December 2, 2024, health insurance eligibility is verified using one of the following:

  • ①Health insurance card
  • ②Eligibility Verification Certificate
  • ③Eligibility information screen on Mynaportal
  • ④Myna health insurance card and Notice of Eligibility Information
  • ⑤Online verification of eligibility using the Individual Number Card (only at facilities that have adopted the relevant system)

Each establishment should apply together for all employees who wish to get the examination.

Eligible persons

Insured persons aged 35 and older who wish to get the examination (once during the fiscal year)
Those eligible for follow-up examinations also should apply for these examinations.

  • * Those undergoing a complete medical checkup or stomach examination at another contracted or ordinary medical care institution are not eligible.

Content of the examination

Primary examination (first examination during the fiscal year)

Choose X-ray (using barium) or endoscopy (gastric camera).

Secondary examinations (second and subsequent examinations during the fiscal year)

Endoscopy and other examinations for those for whom any abnormalities were discovered in the primary examination.

Costs

Examinee copayment for primary examination: 2,000 yen/person
The Health Insurance Society will pay all costs of secondary examinations.

Examination period

April 1 through March 31 of the following year
(Eligible persons should make appointments themselves after receiving appointment slips/questionnaires.)

Be sure to bring ① documentation verifying your health insurance eligibility and ② the appointment ticket/medical questionnaire with you to the examining medical care institution.
Failure to bring these may result in ineligibility for the examination or an additional cost paid at the medical care institution.
