Upper digestive tract (stomach) examination at other medical care institutions (Apply for the subsidy) (Insured persons)
How to apply for and get an examination
- (1) The entire establishment (branch or office) applies directly to the preferred contracted medical care institution after obtaining consent to the Health Insurance Society’s policies on the Handling of Personal Information.
* When applying, provide information such as the examinees’ health insurance codes and numbers, names, genders, and dates of birth. - (2) TThe examinees undergo the examination after the applying establishment and the medical care institution have made scheduling and other arrangements.
- (3) TAfter payment to the examining medical care institutions is complete, each branch or office submits the following documents to the Health Insurance Society (Health Management Department) for each examining medical care institution:
- Subsidization Application (for workplace applications)
- Receipts (originals)
- Copies of detailed invoices
- Copies of notices of examination results or of individual examination records
- (4) TThe subsidy will be paid after review and decision by the Society. Items covered by health insurance (with 30% or 20% copayment) are not eligible for the subsidy.
- (5) TThe application must be submitted during the same fiscal year as the examination.

Other information
Depending on the municipality, cancer screenings (including upper digestive tract [stomach] examination) are conducted approximately once every two years. Check with your municipality and make use of such screening.
* Copayments incurred for such screening also are eligible for the subsidy.
