In accordance with an amendment to applicable
laws effective at the end of the year 2000, since April 2001
the Tokyo General Health Insurance Society Promotion Association
has handled, as part of its operations and under the supervision
of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, “loan system for childbirth
expenses.”
Since the Health Insurance Society is a member of this association,
this system is available for use by any insured persons or their
dependents planning to give birth. Please feel free to apply to
take advantage of this system. |
1.Borrower requirements |
(1) |
The borrower must be planning to give birth within one month,
or |
(2) |
The borrower must need the funds to make a lump-sum payment
after being pregnant for at least four months |
2.Application method |

Fill out the required information in the spaces for completion
by the insured person on the “Application for Childbirth Loan”
(make two copies), and submit your application to the Health
Insurance Society. |
3.Documents to attach, and where to apply |
(1) |
When planning to give birth
within one month of application: |

Submit a copy of your maternity health record books or another
document certifying that your planned delivery date is no more
than one month following application. |
(2) |
When applying after being pregnant
for at least four months: |

In addition to the document described under “(1)” above, attach
a bill or receipt from your medical institution showing a breakdown
of the costs required for childbirth, and submit these to the
First or Second Operation Section of the Health Insurance Society’s Operations
Division. |
4.Remittance of loan funds |

The loan funds will be remitted to your designated bank account.
(No fees are required.) |
5.Repayment and settlement of loan funds |
|
When the applicant or his or her dependent has given birth,
upon submittal of a bill for childbirth and childcare lump-sum
grant the amount borrowed will be repaid by the Health Insurance
Society to the Tokyo General Health Insurance Society Promotion
Association directly, using funds from the childbirth and childcare
lump-sum grant paid by the Health Insurance Society to the insured
person.
Approximately 10% of the amount of childbirth and childcare lump-sum
grant remaining after repayment of the loan will be paid by the
Health Insurance Society together with the amount of 100,000 yen
paid as additional benefits for childbirth (not including childbirth
taking place within six months after losing eligibility). |
